Body In Rhythm Motion Hour

Do you recall singing in the kitchen while cooking as you listen to your favorite song like nobody is listening? How about remembering when you were dancing while cleaning the house as you listened to your favorite music like nobody was watching?

Body In Rhythm Motion Hour is a fun proprietary Eldercare Hybrid Dancing and Singing” presentation designed to recreate those happy, endearing, and entertaining moments for Assisted Living, and Memory Care Seniors!

Seniors rhythmically move their bodies and lip-singing the whole hour while sitting comfortably. The reverberating energy nourishes their heart, mind, body, and spirit, contributing to their wellness and happiness!

With beautiful smiles, Seniors are enjoying their favorite songs and singing along with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Jackie DeShannon, Doris Day, Dionne Warwick, Peggy Lee, Ricky Nelson, Ben E. King, Petula Clark, BJ Thomas, The Drifters, Neil Sedaka, Sam Cooke, and Elvis Presley, to name a few.

A wealth of studies have shown that dancing and singing along can help seniors keep their memory skills sharpened and their bodies healthy. Proper timing movements of their upper body and feet contribute to their cognitive agility.

Musical rhythms stimulate specific areas of the brain, often known as our “rewards centers.” The stimulation acts like fertilizer for brain cells benefiting the neurons. These regions are associated with dopamine, which affects happiness, well-being, movement, and thinking.

Many loved ones have scheduled their visits during this hour to lovingly participate in the magical moment of experiencing the joy of family connection!

Body In Rhythm Motion Hour is currently at:

TESTIMONIALS:

As a daughter of a mother who has been in Tradition Lovers Lane Memory Care for the past 3 years, I am very grateful for activities such as Body In Rhythm Motion Hour, which combines wonderful nostalgic music with bodily movements while sitting in a chair. My mother’s face lights up as she sings along with the songs. I have witnessed other residents who normally do not participate much become engaged with the music and movements. This type of stimulation brings joy to all residents in their different stages of dementia. It is one activity I look forward to, as my mother and I happily connect with all the singing!

Every Friday from 3-4 pm, we visit our dear friend who is in memory care at the Belmont Village Turtle Creek. Johnny Tan brings beautiful music, motions, and his winning smile to give joy to the residents. Johnny makes a great connection with each person through his warmth and kindness. It is a happy, happy hour for all. Thank you, Johnny!
